Acute Kidney Injury (AKI)

KDIGO is updating the Clinical Practice Guideline for Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and Acute Kidney Disease (AKD), revising the 2012 version. This update will incorporate findings from the 2019 Controversies Conference and the 2020 Consensus Conference on kidney diseases. The project is co-chaired by Matthew James from Canada, and Marlies Ostermann from the UK. The goal is to integrate global feedback before undertaking a systematic literature review. The guideline will cover adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations, and will be applicable in hospitals, communities, and care facilities. It aims to assist in managing patients at high risk of AKI and AKD, including those with multiple comorbidities and chronic conditions such as chronic kidney disease, liver diseases, and heart diseases. The guideline will be relevant globally, including in countries with varying resource levels.

KDIGO is releasing several new resources to complement the KDIGO AKI/AKD Guideline Update Scope of Work, published in October 2023.
